- Nose bleeds?
- Dry skin ?
- Static electricity?
Nose bleeds, dry skin and excessive static electricity are signs of low indoor humidity. Did you know the recommended indoor humidity level is between 35-55%? The Sahara Desert rates about 17%. Most homes come closer to 13%. We have two solutions. One is to plug outside air infiltration; our Whole House Audit can pinpoint these leaking areas. The other is to install a whole house humidifier. Providing a healthy level of humidity not only guards against health problems such as dry nasal passages, it also protects your home furnishings such as furniture and hardwood floors from drying and cracking during cold winter months. Healthy air is comfortable air!
- Allergies?
- Funny Indoor Odors?
- Excessive Dust?
Allergies and odors are signs the air in your home may not be healthy. Without adequate air filtration, the air becomes laden with irritating particulates that build up through time. A whole house filtration system can help keep your air clean and provide a healthier environment. The second part of the solution may be in finding the source of the unhealthy air. Our whole house audit can pinpoint the exact sources. Click here to find out more.
If excessive dust in your home is frustrating your cleaning efforts, this is often a sign of a leaky duct system. When your duct work has leaks, especially in the attic or basement, it may be sucking in insulation particles, sawdust, and other dirt. Your HVAC system then constantly re-circulates this dust. Some gets trapped by your filter but if the source of the dirt is not eliminated, the filter will always be dirty. The answer? Sealing those leaky ducts and installing a whole house filtration system. It will also reduce your energy bills!
Your air conditioner (or heat pump) is a dehumidifier and if your system is properly sized and working efficiently, it should keep your home at the optimal level of humidity. However, in certain applications, additional dehumidification may be needed. Some examples include an extremely efficient home where the air conditioner is not used very often; therefore, the humidity is not removed from the air. Another example may be an older home with mature trees that shade the home and prevent the air conditioner from running regularly.
We can help you determine if additional dehumidification may be needed. Remember that humidity control is very important to comfort level and energy savings.
Cleaning is good. Zapping is Better. (by Honeywell)
No matter how much you clean and disinfect, bacteria, mold and germs still blow through the air in your home every time your heating and cooling system turns on. Plus, your air conditioner's moist cooling coil can serve as an ideal breeding ground for mold. Ultraviolet light systems act as an additional line of defense to help protect your family.
The UV light treatment system is contained within your heating and cooling system- right where bacteria and mold try to grow. It kills up to 99.9% of mold that could otherwise thrive on your system's cooling coil and up to 87% of bacteria passing through the air.
Who can benefit? Those homes with elderly and small children, anyone who's immune system may be compromised and of course, anyone concerned with maintaining a cleaner indoor environment. (Honeywell UV Light)
